Round 2 (2024)

Updated: Mar 27, 2024

HANDICAPS

North Melbourne +14.5

Believe it or not North are actually good at covering their lines at Docklands. Clarko has them defending the ground well there covering 8 out 10 lines there last year even though they only won 1 of those (5-point win to the Eagles). The market just doesn't like em. They also match up well to Freo having beaten them away last season. Freo are one of our favourite teams to take the opponents plus handicap against with their dour, low scoring style not leaning itself to blowout wins. North can be punished on occasion with their weak defence but Freo multiple injuries with key position players makes this difficult.

DISPOSALS

Jack Steele 25+

Steel had a poor 2023 by his standards. He looked under-weight and underprepared. He looks way better this season and after performing well in the toughest match up for midfielders by getting 25 touches against the Cats, he comes up against the easiest match up here in the Pies at the G. With the Saints major accumulator Brad Crouch out this week he'll have the most access to the ball.

Tim Taranto 25+

A key spot for us last year was Taranto and hopper with and without each other for the Tigers. After a slow start for Taranto this is the perfect moment for him to take the lead. in the Richmond midfield. With no Hopper last year his disposal counts were 29, 33, 33, 36, 35, 38, 24.

Ollie Wines 25+

Wines in the preseason was slated for a bigger role in the midfield which didn't really come to pass last week. But with Horne-Francis on the sidelines he he'll see major minutes inside this week against the Tigers team that has been leading huge numbers to opposition midfielders so far this season.

GOALSCORERS

Jake Waterman

With no Oscar Allen, their priority IN50 target, we think there is some value here on Waterman. Obviously a very tough matchup, however they still have Allen priced in the market, without him Waterman should become the main target in F50. He kicked 2.1 on the weekend and hopefuly he can fire up at home.

GOALSCORERS

Bailey Fritsch

Went goalless last week for only the 6th time since the start of the 21 season. After each of those 6 games he has come out firing the following week - tally's of 3,3,7,2 & 5.

More importantly, i think this is a perfect matchup for him against the Hawks who are not strong defensively. Petty has been brought in to the fwd line, he is likely to be underdone after having an interrupted pre-season, however he will still draw some attention. Conditions are looking good for Saturday, expecting the Demons to put the Hawks to the sword here and Bailey to fire up in the F50.
